“Our handsome bronze front door opens to reveal a vaulted marble hall with frescoed walls, grand statues and family portraits, setting the scene for the drama beyond – a magnificent marble staircase ascends to our mirrored, opulent ballroom and gilded salons, telling tales of old-world glamour, while hosting many a modern-day wedding or party,” the team behind the place say.

Now, they’ve recently unveiled their latest refurbishment by the Italian-born Antonio Girardi with Paul Cuschieri as local project manager.

Plans to refurbish the stunning place had been on the cards for years, but works began in earnest last August.

The new design draws “on the botanical inspiration of the Palace, the new restaurant designs combine a variety of luxurious materials including mirrors, murals, fabrics, glass, and chandeliers to capture the feeling of garden calm in this indoor oasis”.

But it’s not just the aesthetic of the place – the food is creative and divine, as shown in their recent exciting “Palazzo Is Back” menu. 

You can expect modern takes on Maltese classics like “Caramelised octopus, smoked carrot puree, balsamic glaze, wakame and ginger foam” as well as extravagant dishes like “Orange & Grand Marnier Aquarello Risotto with Marinated Duck Breast”.

And their dessert selection should not be missed – their White Chocolate Fondant with Passion Fruit and Mango with Coconut Crumble is genuinely divine. 

And the friendly and attentive service will make you feel welcomed, even if it’s your first time visiting.
