Neil Agius Sets New World Record For Longest Ocean Swim With 142.3 Kilometres Around Malta And Gozo
Ultra-endurance swimmer and former Olympian Neil Agius has done it again, shattering his own world record for the longest ocean swim (nonstop, unassisted, current neutral) by covering a staggering 142.3 km in 60 hours and 30 minutes.
This epic feat, pending official ratification, cements Neil’s place as one of the world’s most extraordinary endurance swimmers.

Starting from Mellieħa Bay last Saturday, Agius completed a full circumnavigation of both Malta and Gozo before embarking on an additional near-half circumnavigation of Malta, finishing triumphantly at Għar Lapsi.
A previous record for the longest Ocean Swim was set in 2014 by Chloe McCardel, who swam 124.4 km across Exuma Sound in the Bahamas.
Neil had already surpassed that record in 2021 when he swam 125.7 km across the channel between Linosa and Gozo.
Now, with this latest superhuman achievement, he has raised the bar by an additional 16.6 km.
Neil continues to inspire countless people worldwide, pushing the boundaries of human endurance and showcasing Malta on the global stage.
