NET Journalist Denies Doctoring Central Bank Party Video And Pledges To Publish Proof Tonight

A NET journalist has dismissed reports that he had fabricated a video of Central Bank staff chanting ‘Viva l-Labour’ at a Christmas party and has pledged to publish proof showing exactly that tonight.

ONE TV journalist Karl Stagno Navarro last night revealed that grainy black and white footage recently published on NET’s Sorsi Infurmati was actually sourced from a YouTube video of a Barcelona nightclub. Meanwhile, the chants of ‘Viva l-Labour’ in the background appears to be chants of PL supporters celebrating electoral victory at the Naxxar counting hall.

However, Joe Mikallef insisted the video was meant to be a reconstruction of the party and not secret footage of the actual party, even though the programme didn’t state this was so.

“It’s normal practice to use reconstructed scenes during TV programmes,” Mikallef told Lovin Malta. “We never said that was footage of the actual party but we will publish proof during tonight’s episode.”

Mikallef noted that the Central Bank has not denied his report of the Christmas party and of blatant political discrimination, in favour of ardent PL supporters, at the bank.

Lovin Malta has reached out to the Central Bank for an official response but has not received a response as of the time of writing.
