Neville Gafà Petitions Parliament To Make Daphne Memorial Illegal

PL activist Neville Gafà has launched a parliamentary petition urging MPs to make the memorial to Daphne Caruana Galizia at the Great Siege Monument illegal.
“This petition is asking for a law that would make it illegal to permanently appropriate or seize a public national monument,” Gafà wrote.
“A balance must be struck between free expression and the protection of public and national monuments that are symbols of national unity.”
Gafà has recently launched a campaign against the memorial that has been in place at the Great Siege Monument since Caruana Galizia was murdered in cold blood in 2017.
He has named people honouring the assassinated journalist in the centre of Valletta, replaced placards paying tribute to Caruana Galizia with counter-placards criticising the assassinated journalist, and ripped into a former judge who ruled in favour of the memorial.
He has described the petition as the “next step of his campaign”.
