New App Will Let You Know Where Bus Is In Real Time, Malta Public Transport Manager Pledges

An upcoming update to the Tallinja app will let commuters know where their bus is in real-time, Malta Public Transport General Manager Konrad Pulé has pledged.

Interviewed on Radju Malta’s Vi Jew Va, Pulé said the app will be launched sometime next year and make use of GPS technology, similar to that used in cab apps.

People will therefore be able to see the precise location of their bus on a map.

This could greatly enhance the bus experience for commuters, who will be able to plan their schedules according to real-time information, rather than information on timetables.

Malta’s traffic problems mean buses often don’t stick to their timetables, leaving commuters in the dark as to when their bus will arrive and when they will be able to reach their destination.

Pulé also called for more underground parking to replace street parking, freeing up space for bus lanes and allowing them to travel more freely without getting stuck in traffic.
