‘New Beginnings’: The Muscats And The Abelas Share Family Photo On Joseph’s Last Day In Office
Outgoing Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has shared a photo of his family and incoming Prime Minister Robert Abela’s family just hours before his successor is sworn in.

“On this very special day, Michelle, Etoile Ella, Soleil Sophie and I wish Lydia, Giorgia Mae and Robert all the very best for the future #newbeginnings,” Muscat said on Instagram today.
The photo comes after Abela won the Labour Party’s leadership race over the weekend in a landslide victory against his competitor, Chris Fearne.
The picture was met with positive comments, with many Labour supporters seeing it as a good omen for the future of their party amid hopes that unity reigns once a new leader takes over.
Abela is set to officially become Malta’s Prime Minister today at 3 pm, where he will be sworn in at the President’s Palace in Valletta. He is expected to meet his Parliamentary Group for the first time as Prime Minister shortly after.
