New €1.3 Million Tactical Shooting Simulator For Malta’s Soldiers Opened In Ħal Far
A virtual simulator aimed at trained Maltese soldiers in a variety of shooting styles has been opened in Ħal Far.
The new simulator, worth around €1.3 million, is intended to raise the level of shooting and ballistics training among the Armed Forces of Malta.
The simulator will push on four key aspects: basic, advanced, static and tactical shooting.
Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri and AFM Commander Brigadier Clinton O’Neill inaugurated the simulator today, with Camilleri praising the specialised training soldiers could now attend in realistic conditions.
“We believe that the hands-on training one gets within the AFM is one that cannot be obtained through traditional training on school-desks,” Camilleri said.
“This simulator is a major jump without precedent in the quality of military training that our soldiers are being given,” O’Neill said.
During the inauguration, applications for anyone interested in joining the forces were given out. AFM officials also reminded the public that between October and December, the force would be opening its doors to the public who would like to join soldiers in their physical training.
