The Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg officially inaugurated the High Commission of Malta in Accra, Ghana.

”This is another important link in the implementation of our country’s policy strategy towards the African continent with the aim of continuing to see more collaboration on this continent,” Borg stated on his profile.

The High Commission has been using the temporary premises since 2019. Now, proper offices have been opened for staff to work from, with this being the first Maltese High Commission in Sub Saharan Africa.

Borg believes this will strengthen the relationship between the two continents, and more especially the relationship between Malta and Africa.

This goes hand-in-hand with the Foreign Affairs policy of the Malta-Africa Strategy 2020-2025, as he expressed in his inauguration speech.

Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ghana, stated that it is an honour for Ghana, that this Mediterranean country which forms part of the European Union, is opening this High Commission.

The Minister showed his appreciation towards the High Commissioner of Ghana in Malta, and the new High Commissioner Jean Claude Galea Mallia and the rest of the staff for all the work they’ve done to effectuate this event.
