New JeanPaul Sofia Picture Placed Outside Castille Hours After First One Was Swept Away

A new picture of the late JeanPaul Sofia has been placed outside Castille after another portrait of the young man was swept away.
“The friends of JeanPaul have put up another picture of our dearest – and it will stay there until a public inquiry into JeanPaul’s death is opened,” a group of friends and loved ones said today, sharing images of a replica of the first portrait that had been set up last night.
The small tribute, which also included candles, was swept away shortly after being placed outside Castille, leading to an outcry from both his family as well as politicians.
“From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank all those who showed support and those who were going to place a candle,” she said. “However everything was removed in the middle of the night. This won’t make lose heart when getting my message across.”
“I will keep on insisting on a public inquiry until my last breath to ease the pain of those families whose relatives lose their lives at work. I don’t want my son to have died for nothing.”
Bonnici said that while the light of the candles may have snuffed out, she will keep “lighting the flame” of hope and justice.
“Life is too precious for its end to be considered so irrelevant. I urge the people to unite in one colour, the colour of love.”
This is not the first time tributes in Valletta were regularly swept away; after the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, a makeshift tribute to her in front of the Law Courts became a battleground between activists and government workers, with the cleanins department regularly removing tributes to the assassinated journalist.
Today, a tribute to her remains outside the courts.
Do you think the newly-erected portrait of Sofia will be swept away tonight?
