The driver involved in a nasty bus collision in St Julian’s yesterday has tragically passed away, and he has now been identified.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our colleagues Hussain Shah who passed away today following yesterday’s tragic accident,” Tallinja wrote in a post moments ago.

“Hussain was a 37-year-old Pakistani national and a father of four,” the tribute continued. “He joined us earlier this year after working for a number of years as a bus driver and school bus driver in the United Arab Emirates. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends in these difficult times.”

Just before 10.30am yesterday, the bus which was being driven by Hussain ended up crashing onto the central strip in the busy Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli. The accident triggered a massive congestion in the area, with a Ford Tourneo Courier van being driven by a 39-year-old female driver from Naxxar also involved in the accident. The woman was reportedly not injured, but eyewitnesses told this newsroom that she was suffering from shock following the nasty crash.

Lovin Malta would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family of Hussain Shah. Rest in peace.
