Bank of Valletta has suspended all of its services in light of a hacking attempt.

In a brief statement, the bank confirmed that all of its systems, from ATMs to online banking, have been temporarily shut down and all BOV branches have closed early.

The entire BOV website is currently offline too.

“We had to isolate the server as a precaution and our IT team is working full blast on ensuring that the attack has been thwarted,” a BOV spokesperson told Lovin Malta. “We have to make sure the attack isn’t there anymore before we go online again.”

He confirmed that no accounts have been compromised but said it is still too early to envisage any timelines for when the services will resume.

The bank added that it local and international police are investigating the attempted hack.
