Keith Schembri has been released from arrest, the police have confirmed.
“Mr Keith Schembri has been released from arrest tonight following intensive investigations in recent days concerning allegations that were made against him in relation to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia,” the police said. “At this stage, the police doesn’t see the need to keep Mr Schembri under arrest.”
The police issued their statements moments after Fenech filed a constitutional case demanding homicide inspector Keith Arnaud be removed from the case. Fenech has sworn under oath that Schembri had told him that he was receiving updates about the investigation directly from Arnaud, including detailed information about the arrest of the Degiorgio brothers and Vince Muscat in December 2017.
