The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) will take a decision on whether to revoke the license of Pilatus Bank later on today, Lovin Malta is reliably informed.
A meeting of the MFSA’s supervisory council started at 8:30am this morning, following last night’s arrest of Pilatus Bank’s chairman Ali Sadr Hasheminejad by the United States, and is still ongoing as of the time of writing.
The Nationalist Party, the Partit Demokratiku and the Civil Society Network have demanded the instant revocation of Pilatus Bank’s license. Opposition leader Adrian Delia warned that the writing has long been on the wall for Pilatus Bank and that Malta’s reputation is at its lowest point in recent history.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told Net News that any decision on Pilatus Bank’s license will be taken by the MFSA’s supervisory council.
