MaltaToday has published a photo which gives a glimpse of the closeness between Keith Schembri, who was until this week the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, and Melvin Theuma, the middleman in the Daphne Caruana Galizia murder.

The photo was taken at Castille, the office of the Prime Minister, in front of a framed photograph of Joseph Muscat.

Theuma was granted a Presidential Pardon by Muscat while Schembri was his Chief of Staff.

Schembri stepped down a day before he was also arrested in connection with the murder. He was later released by police who claimed there was no evidence against him.

Meanwhile, prime suspect Yorgen Fenech has also named the Prime Minister in his police statement. The Prime Minister has yet to deny any involvement in the case except to claim he was blackmailed. Questions about the threats he received remain unanswered.
