Child Carer And Maltese Husband Charged With Sexually Abusing Their Own Toddlers
A Romanian child care support worker and her Maltese husband have been charged in court with defiling their own children, aged just 1-and-a-half and 3-and-a-half years old, and taking explicit photos and videos of them.
Shocking details of the abuse the toddlers had suffered emerged in court this afternoon. As reported by MaltaToday, the parents were found to have taken over 70 pornographic photos and videos of their children, including some of them touching the father’s genitals and showering with their parents.
The prosecuting inspector Joseph Busuttil said the man, aged 33, and his wife, aged 34, had usually taken it in turns to take photos and videos of themselves with their children.
To make the case even worse, the woman confirmed she recently started working at a summer school as a child-care support worker for autistic children.
The two were charged separately with corrupting minors, and producing, possession or distribution of child porn, and the prosecution also called for a treatment order and protection order for the two kids.
“These things cannot be allowed to happen in Malta in 2017,” the inspector was quoted as saying. “This is child porn that was not downloaded off the internet but taken by the accused of their own children.”
The woman, who addressed the court in Italian, said she recently started working at a summer school as a child-care support worker for autistic children. Child protection agency Appogg confirmed it had already been alerted by the school, after the woman spoke to her colleagues about ongoing separation procedures with her husband.
The parents’ lawyers Benjamin Valenzia, appearing for the father, and Cynthia Tomasuolo, appearing for the mother, both requested bail for the clients but the request was turned down.
The court banned the publication of the parents’ names so as to safeguard their two abused children, who are currently being cared for by child care protection agency Appogg.
