Businessman Yorgen Fenech was arrested this morning in connection with the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia as he was trying to leave Malta by boat.

Lovin Malta can now confirm that Fenech is the main suspect as the mastermind behind the journalist’s murder in October 2017.

His yacht ‘Gio’ was intercepted by AFM patrols as it left the Portomaso Marina early this morning. After lying stationary while officers boarded the yacht, AFM patrol vessels escorted Gio back towards Portomaso, and a rigorous search by AFM continues at the marina.

Fenech is the owner of 17 Black, the Dubai-based company that was allegedly set up to transfer millions to the Panamanian companies owned by former energy minister Konrad Mizzi and the Prime Minister’s chief of staff Keith Schembri.
