PN Leader’s Wife Files Judicial Protest Against Him Over Missed Mortgage Payments

Nickie Vella de Fremeaux has instigated legal action against her husband, PN leader Adrian Delia, accusing him of failing to pay two successive mortgage payments for the family home.

Vella de Fremeaux filed separation proceedings against Delia last year and is currently residing at the family home, with Delia moving elsewhere.

In a judicial protest filed today, Vella de Fremeaux’s lawyer Albert Libreri said that his client received five letters from HSBC at the start of the month, which were also addressed to Delia, about a mortgage for their matrimonial home.

HSBC reminded them that mortgage payments for May and June, a total of €7,641, hadn’t been paid and warned them that it had the power to suspend their banking facilities if they also missed the July payment.

Meanwhile, HSBC also wrote to Delia to remind him that he had long exceeded his overdraft by €2,000 and that he is in debit by over €25,000 on two credit cards.

Separately, BOV also told Delia that a standing order of €835 hadn’t been processed because he didn’t have enough money in his account.

In the judicial protest, Vella de Fremeaux also warned that Delia had racked up a €19,000 debt for water and electricity bills and that she is expecting these services to be cut off any day now.

After receiving the letters and subsequent phone calls from HSBC, Vella de Fremeaux’s lawyer e-mailed Delia to bring this issue to is attention.

According to the judicial protest, Delia didn’t respond to the e-mail but messaged Vella de Fremeaux on WhatsApp to assure her that the HSBC loans had been regularised.

However, when Vella de Fremeaux tried to verify this statement with HSBC yesterday, four days after the deadline, the bank informed her that no such payments had been made.

“Apart from the fact that Vella de Fremeaux caught Delia lying about such an important matter, Delia’s irresponsible and abusive behaviour is seriously endangering and prejudicing [Vella de Fremeaux] and their children,” the judicial protest states.

The judicial protest was filed two days before a vote of confidence in Delia will be held at the PN General Council.
