Police have found a corpse in a field in the village of Għarb, Gozo and are reportedly treating the case as a homicide

The man, who TVM has identified as a foreigner, was found in a field by St. Dimitri Chapel at around 7:45am. The report states the body was bearing marks of injuries and cartridges were found on the scene, prompting police to consider the case as a murder.

If so, it would be the first murder of 2018.

UPDATE: The Police have confirmed that the body was that of a 42-year-old Egyptian man from Żebbuġ, Gozo.

“The case is being treated as a homicide and preliminary investigations have shown that the man was most likely killed by gunshots,” the Police said in a press release.
