Start Stocking Up! Benna Has Just Announced A Nationwide Fresh Milk Shortage
Benna’s campaign for people to drink more fresh milk might have worked just a little too well as the country has now officially been hit by a nationwide shortage.
“During the hot summer months, cows naturally produce less milk and in the past few weeks, the supply of raw milk was not meeting the demand,” Benna told Lovin Malta. “Since Benna uses only 100% fresh Maltese milk, as is also declared on the milk carton, the company does not make use of imported milk or milk alternatives, so this shortage cannot be addressed by the importation of milk or milk alternatives from abroad. The company is the processing arm of the dairy sector in Malta and aims to maintain its commitment to use all of the Maltese dairy farmers’ milk.”
Benna said local demand for fresh milk is continuously increasing, spurred by both its own creation of new dairy products and by Malta’s rising population.
“We are working on a strategic long-term plan to try to meet the increased demands throughout the whole year, taking into consideration the population growth and the increased demand for our products,” Benna said. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their continuous loyalty and support, and we apologise for this inconvenience. It is our mission to deliver local fresh milk to each and every shop on the Maltese islands within 24 hours from milking, and we are doing our utmost to continue providing consumers with fresh milk despite such a situation being beyond our immediate control.”
“This situation should get back to normal in a few weeks once the temperature starts cooling down again.”
