Julia Chetcuti, the 10-year-old girl who passed away due to cancer last Thursday, wants to be remembered for her strength and for not giving up, “even though it was really hard”.

Julia’s mother together with Puttinu Cares announced that her battle with cancer ended on Thursday, after a hard fight of two years.

Julia loved school, so much so that she called St Monica School her “family”. She was also a fan of films, Harry Potter in particular, and had a passion for reading books and the “different world” they would plunge her into.

Her funeral was held this morning at the Lija Parish Church, where Julia’s message to the attendees was handed out on the back of the memorial cards.

“What I want to be remembered for:

  • Being brave in my darkest moments
  • Never giving up (even though it was really hard)
  • Staying positive when life was like a place that crumbled down into pieces
  • My love for school and eagerness to learn – St Monica School = my family
  • Loving films (Especially Harry Potter)
  • Living day by day because you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow
  • Being a bookworm. Books relax me and take me into a different world”

Rest in Peace Julia
