10-Year-Old Maltese Boy Starts Racing Career in Italy
Starting his journey in motorsport at just the age of seven, Matteo quickly rose through the ranks in the local karting circuit. Last weekend, Matteo Bartolo, at only 10 years old, had his first encounter with single-seater racing in Caserta, Italy.
His participation in the Formula Predator program marks a significant milestone in his budding career and the initial day tested his adaptability. He quickly familiarised himself with the car’s features and safety equipment, various steering commands, and managing engine temperature – all of which he handled with remarkable composure.
From the beginning, Matteo’s confidence and ability to learn quickly was remarkable. He navigated the course on his first on-track session without any mistakes, receiving positive feedback from the academy’s coach and mechanic – a true testament to his skill. Initially, the persistent rain posed a challenge. But, with the coach’s guidance, Matteo gained a deeper understanding of the car’s behaviour in wet conditions.
Overall, Matteo’s performance has set a promising tone for his future in Formula racing, motorsport journalist Oliver Attard said in a statement.
Well done Matteo!
