Jake Vella, the inspirational boy hero who passed away this weekend aged 15, will be cremated, his parents have confirmed.

Jake’s death on Friday triggered a great outpouring of tributes from all over Malta, Gozo and beyond, with his parents Josie and Maruska breaking their silence the next day.

“In a couple of days’ time, you’re going to be with us at home, where you have a place next to all the awards you’ve been awarded,” Josie told his late son, after having spent 665 days sleeping next to him at Mater Dei Hospital.
