‘Pray For Bjorn,’ Friends Of ALS Activist Urge As He Is Rushed To Hospital
Friends of Bjorn Formosa have urged the nation to keep the ALS activist in their prayers after he was rushed to hospital yesterday.
“A few hours ago, Bjorn was in serious pain as a result of a large number of prostate stones,” a message signed ‘friends of Bjorn’ read on the activist’s Facebook page. “Due to his condition, Bjorn cannot undergo an operation. We urge you to keep him in your prayers.”
Thousands of people expressed their support, including Inclusion Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli, who urged Bjorn to stay strong.
Bjorn was diagnosed with ALS, a neurodegenerative neuromuscular disease that results in the progressive loss of motor neurons that control voluntary muscles, in 2015 when he was 28 years old.
Since then, he has won the nation’s hearts with his fundraising efforts for a respite home for neurological patients and his can-do attitude, even as his condition deteriorated.
Lovin Malta recently spent time behind the scenes to get a closer look at Bjorn, his wife Maria and their hard work creating better lives for those living with ALS – watch A Little Smile below.
