The Birkirkara FC community has come together in solidarity and to support former player Thiago Brito de Souza who was involved in a horrific traffic accident in Brazil.
“Everyone involved in Birkirkara FC is saddened to hear the news that former player Thiago Brito has been involved in a traffic accident that left his wife and niece dead, while the player is in a critical condition,” the club said in a statement following the news. “The club offers its unwavering support to his family in this difficult moment.”
Brito and his family were reportedly heading on a holiday when their lives were turned upside down
It is being reported that Brito was a passenger in the car, while the sister of his wife was driving. Both the driver and Brito were rushed to hospital to be treated for the critical injuries they received in the accident.
Brito was left in a critical condition following the accident which claimed the life of his wife and niece.
Brito had started playing for Birkirkara FC last season, debuting on the 17th of August in a 1-0 win over Balzan. He played 13 games in total, accumulating 723 minutes played and five wins, two draws and six losses during his time in Malta.
