Cami Appelgren Takes DNA Test To Find Out Which Country She Should Be Going Back To The Next Time She Is Asked

Cami Appelgren has been clearing our coastlines of plastic waste for years now, she’s had her fair share of go back to your country‘s and in an effort to end this silly taunt she’s only gone and taken a DNA test.

She’s the Scandinavian “barranija” who moved to Malta in search of sun-kissed sandy shorelines.

Instead, what she found was beaches overflowing with plastic waste billowing in from the Mediterranean sea and a plethora of Cisk cans lining the shores. In an attempt to tidy the place up while settling in, she was asked to leave Malta and return to her own country. But the question Cami has in response is: Which country, exaclty?

Cami might have been born in Sweden but that doesn’t mean she’s 100% den tik. While it might feel a little like you’re reading the script to an episode of Maury, it turns out that Cami’s ancestry is in fact: European.

How so?

With a staggering 53% of her genetic makeup stemming from general Scandinavia, she’s still got 47% of her sowing to reap and coming in with a hot 12.9% Belarusian.

Cami clearly holds a large quantity of Germanic ancestry, too, but that’s also part of the European package and that isn’t something one should worry too much about – as that includes some regions of Northern Italy and Spain and holding the hands of her Deutsche forebears is a teeny-tiny bit of the UK.

So, despite what Brexit and the European Union may have you thinking, it all ties up nicely into a hearty European stew. All that’s missing is a little dash of Eastern Europe, but nobody’s perfect – not even Cami Appelgren.

Sadly, Malta didn’t show up in Cami’s saliva tube.

But, if you’re interested in what a typical Maltese genome sequence looks like, simplified, then look no further than our old friend Reddit.

The highest upvoted (akin to ‘likes’ and ‘retweets’ on Reddit) reply to the thread featured one user‘s results from a 23andMe test. Brace yourselves, guys, you might need something to lean on…

A wide spread of European roots, mixing together southern and northwestern influences. If you look closely you might even see a little bit of Balkan in there.

While we aren’t putting every Maltese egg into this guy’s basket, it is worth paying attention to the different regions contained within his genetic build.

Okay, so 0.1% Balkan isn’t much but it is something. And if you’re going to think strongly about having a pixel of Eastern Europe then we can only wonder how you’d react to read further down that list and learn that 3.2% of his makeup is a blend of the Middle East and Northern with Sub-Saharan Africa. Food for thought, surely? Mela.

Have you taken a DNA test? What % that bitch were you?
