For Bravery And Courage! Sliema Waiters Who Saved Drowning Man Honoured By Local Council

Remember those two waiters from Sliema’s Il-Gabbana who saved a drowning man from sea with moments to spare?

Back in July, Italian barista Alex Zanandrea and Bosnian waiter Milan Vasović rose to the occasion and jumped into rough seas to assist an injured man.

The two workers were joined by a customer named only as Mitch, who worked together to pull the man from sea.

These two men have now been awarded medals of bravery and courage by the Sliema Local Council for their valiant efforts.

Taking to Facebook to let his friends and family back home in Bosnia, Milan wrote:

“It has been a great honour and a pleasure to be the guest at an event organised by the Sliema Local Council, where I received the medal,” thanking the council members for their gesture in closing.
