One of Malta’s most beloved priests has opened up a new food kitchen for those in need of a good meal “and a friendly chat”.

Fr Hilary Tagliaferro has opened a “Love Kitchen” at the Millennium Chapel Complex in St Julian’s with the support of the Alfred Mizzi Foundation.

Anyone in need of a “good meal, a friendly chat and a smiling face” is welcome to pass by and enjoy a free meal.

With a lovely furnished dining room alongside refrigerated facilities and heating equipment installed, pre-cooked meals are being supplied by il-Kċina ta’ Marta and run by Church agency Loop.

Fr Hilary is no stranger to pioneering ideas and getting down to work, having even founded Malta’s first-ever football nursery.

With more and more need for food and support for vulnerable families across Malta alongside a loneliness crisis, this kind of kitchen should be applauded and supported.
