Hatchet Buried? Adrian Delia And Jason Azzopardi Meet For Friendly Chat On Franco Debono’s Birthday

Adrian Delia and Jason Azzopardi have had quite a tumultuous relationship within the Nationalist Party but they appeared to bury the hatchet this morning to wish Franco Debono a happy birthday.

Debono, a lawyer and former PN MP, posted a photo of the three of them seated around a table at a cafeteria outside the law courts this morning.

“Two friends and colleagues wished me a happy birthday,” he said.

It is believed that the meeting wasn’t planned in advance and that the three men, who are all lawyers, happened to bump into each other at court and agree to chat over a coffee.

Such a friendly moment would likely not have been possible a few years ago. Azzopardi had taken a leading role in getting rid of Delia as PN leader and had famously published a list of the ‘Blue Hero’ MPs who agreed with him.

On his part, Delia said the PN “has to be everything that Azzopardi is not” and branded the then-MP a “liar who fabricates falsehoods”.

However, their relationship has since improved and Azzopardi recently praised Delia for his recent landmark court victory against the Vitals-Steward hospital contract.

With the court case giving the PN a shot in the arm, the party is going to great lengths to project an image of unity, the lack of which insiders believe has seriously dashed its recent electoral hopes.

Do you think the PN is on the right track?
