It’s Here! Jake Vella And Fabio Spiteri To Swim In Aid Of Abandoned Animals Tomorrow Morning
The time has finally come for Malta’s most inspirational young athlete Jake Vella and record-breaker Fabio Spiteri to embark on their 1.7 kilometre swim in aid of a dog shelter tomorrow morning.
The two athletes will meet at 9 am at ‘Simenta’ in St Paul’s Bay where they’ll set off to St Paul’s island and begin their 1.7 kilometre swim back to shore.
The challenge is expected to take roughly one hour and fifteen minutes at an easy pace, but it’s not the time nor speed at which they complete this feat that matters.
Jake and Fabio will take on this challenge in aid of the Association for Abandoned Animals who will be collecting donations on the day towards buying food and medicine for abandoned animals at the shelter.
The event’s sponsor, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, have already donated over €1,000 towards this great cause.
The challenge is also special because it’s another chapter in Jake’s great journey as a sports ambassador and triathlete despite his very rare condition.
Jake has ROHHAD; a condition that means no matter how much he exercises or diets, he keeps gaining weight. There are only around 75 known cases of ROHHAD around the world, but this hasn’t stopped Jake from staying active.
And taking on this challenge tomorrow is another example of just that.
