‘I Try To Give Back What They’ve Lost’: Palestinian Chef Cooks For Children Living In Ħal Far

A Palestinian-Jordanian personal chef in Malta cooks, plays music and listens to the stories of Palestinian children living in Ħal Far every fortnight.

“I can’t sleep at night knowing there are people who are suffering and burning to death. So I’ve decided to make the children happy with a hot meal,” Emad Shahin told Lovin Malta earlier today.

He came to Malta 19 years ago fleeing war and recently, in the midst of a horrific military campaign against his people, he decided to use his talents to give back.

Emad cooks, plays music of their choice, and watches them dance – offering a sense of normalcy and joy amid the pain they’ve endured.

“I try to give back the things that these children have missed out on since 7th October. Seeing them happy makes me happy – this event will keep happening for as long as I’m alive.”

He explained that their stories are so heartbreaking, they would move almost anyone to tears.

“They really make you appreciate what you have.”

Emad added that these events really help the children because it gives them the opportunity to meet and speak with people after witnessing and enduring some of the most unthinkable horrors.

However, Emad doesn’t do this alone. He has a team who helps him and operates on donations. So if you’re interested in donating to this noble cause, you can send him money via Revolut on +356 77336899.

Emad shared that he wishes he was able to do and cook more, “not just for Palestinian people, but for anyone in need.”
