Renowned TV presenter Keith Demicoli has expressed his pride for his daughter Rianne Cini after she shared her mental health journey in front of a large crowd of PL activists last Sunday.
“Among all the things I’ve done in my life, I am most proud to be the father of a wonderful daughter who, yesterday, courageously shared her challenging mental health journey,” Demicoli said. “I’ll always have your back at every step of your journey.”
Demicoli’s post was praised by high-profile politicians, including Environment Minister Miriam Dalli, who said Cini was amazing, and the Prime Minister’s wife Lydia Abela, who described her as an “inspiration”.

20-year-old Cini, who is contesting the upcoming Birgu local council elections for Labour, stole the show at the PL’s general conference last Sunday with a candid personal story about her struggles with mental health.
Cini said she was diagnosed with PTSD, hallucinations, depression and general anxiety when she was 15 years old and was medically advised not to sit for her O Levels because she had “burned too many brain cells”.
However, she powered through and is now a nursing student.
“I’m not speaking like this to gain your pity or your sympathy… in fact, I am not a miskina,” she said. “I’m here to tell other people passing through mental health problems that they shouldn’t be afraid, that they’re no longer taboo and that they should seek help.”
