‘Love You, Neighbours’: Żejtun Street Keeps The Maltese Spirit Alive By Reciting The Rosary Together From Their Balconies
Maltese people seem to always find ways to keep a strong sense of community going, even in the time of social distancing due to the coronavirus.
However, one street in Żejtun may have taken the cake for the most Maltese way of bonding together while many metres apart – saying the Rosary together from the balcony of your home.
In a photo uploaded by Lorraine Caruna and subsequently shared by Żejtun locals, the residents of Triq Melchiorre Gafà in Żejtun joined together in prayer in a wholesome moment that reminded everyone just how strong the bonds between neighbours in Malta can be.
“Neighbours united in the prayer of the Rosary in their balconies as one community.”
A number of residents have even placed hopeful messages, flags and inspiring words on their balconies as well.
Some of the local residents even commented online, with one woman saying: “Love you neighbours, and thanks to my auntie for the reading”.
More and more of these special moments are being captured in Malta as the country faces a partial lockdown and finds itself quarantined at home. However, everyone from the Girl Guides to classic Maltese singers is pitching in to help Malta keep its spirits up – and it’s awesome.
