It was a few months ago now that Titti, the Jack Russell whose cliff-diving antics at St Peter’s Pool made her famous worldwide, passed away.

It was a sad day for dog lovers everywhere, but particularly for Titti’s owner Carmelo Abela, who said he was heartbroken when he realised he had no other choice but to put his companion down due to heart failure.

However, dog-diving could soon return to Delimara after Carmelo announced that he is the proud owner of a new Jack Russell puppy called Tina.

“Tina was donated to me by a very kind family from Russia,” he said. “Tina comes from champion pedigree parents with her owners travelling to Malta for a week to help her settle in with me and my family. We are so appreciative for their kind gesture and will forever be grateful. I look forward to sharing her adventures with you and invite you to like her new Facebook page or follow her on Instagram.”

One of Tina’s first photos is of herself sunbathing on a towel at St Peter’s Pool and Carmelo confirmed with a follower that he will teach her how to dive if she wants to learn.

She will have a way to go if she wants to reach the standards set by Titti, whose acrobatics wowed many tourists and locals, with groups of people regularly making their way to St Peter’s Pool just to catch a glimpse of her.

She was posthumously crowned ‘Best Pet’ during Lovin Malta’s inaugural social media awards, with Carmelo picking up the award on his late companion’s behalf.
