Maltese Carnival Company Changes Routine Last Minute In Emotional Performance Dedicated To Kelly Mifsud
The Dreamteam Carnival Company put on a specially-created performance during last night’s show in tribute to the late Kelly Mifsud, the beloved dancer who passed away during Carnival weekend after losing her long-fought battle against cancer.
The carnival group changed its dance routine after the heartbreaking news of Kelly’s passing, with Dreamteam putting on a unique show last night that was directly dedicated to Kelly Mifsud, who passed away on the 3rd of March.
“Yesterday was a day full of respect to our beloved Kelly,” Jeremy Mercieca, head of PR and dancers for Dreamteam Carnival Company, told Lovin Malta.
The company printed a large banner with her image on the day, and incorporated it into the dance routine.
“During our competition in the arena, we held a guard of honour with our dancers holding Kelly’s photo, and I placed a collection of flowers on her photo.”
All of the carnival companies joined in with Dreamteam in holding a minute of silence in Merchant Street in dedication to the late Maltese dancer
Beyond the dance routine change, the troupe members wore black arm bands as a sign of respect.
On social media, many fellow dancers as well as other carnival enthusiasts changed their profile pictures to an image of a white background and black ribbon, in remembrance of the 29-year-old.
