Maltese Couple Ditches Honeymoon Plans To Volunteer In Kenya
Catherine and Albert Sciberras tied the knot last month, but now they’re all geared up for their next big adventure together – their honeymoon. And unlike most couples who dream of relaxing by the pool or hiking through some wild jungle on their first holiday as spouses, these two are jetting off to Africa to volunteer there.
According to a story featured on Xarabank, the pair have been close to a group call Mzungu Mission, who organises yearly trips to Kenya, and since they had missed an earlier opportunity to volunteer there they decided there was no time like the present.
Both Catherine and Albert are from Qormi, and Catherine often teases about how he saw her first and fell in love with her long before she knew who he was. But after the pair met at a youth group called ‘Link Youth’ they hit it off right away. At first as friends, and then three years later as a little more than that.
Their honeymoon adventure is set to start in mid-August, and will include everything from building and fixing up homes and schools, to helping set up local clinics their. It’ll be an intensive three weeks but we can only imagine how rewarding it will be.
If you’re inspired by their story, be sure to head over to the Mzungu Mission page for more information on how you can get involved.
