Maltese Dad To Run And Swim Barefoot Across Islands For His Twin Sons With Rare Disease

A Maltese dad is preparing to take on an extraordinary challenge to raise funds and awareness for his twin sons, who live with Zellweger Disease, a rare degenerative condition that affects their movement, speech, motor skills, and independence.
Despite their daily struggles, the 13-year-old boys inspire their family and community with their resilience. But as the disease progresses, adapting their home has become increasingly urgent to make life more accessible and comfortable for them.
To help achieve this, their father Brian, alongside athletes Karl and Natalie, will embark on a gruelling swim-run journey across Malta, Comino, and Gozo on 5th October 2025.
Here’s what the challenge looks like:
🏃 Run from Mosta to Marfa
🏊 Swim to Comino
🏃 Run across Comino
🏊 Swim to Ħondoq
🏃 Run all the way to Ta’ Pinu
In a true test of endurance and spirit, Brian will be completing the entire challenge barefoot.
People are welcome to join along the way by running parts of the route with the athletes in solidarity.
This year’s goal is clear: to make the twins’ home more accessible, helping them navigate the increasing difficulties that come with their condition.
The challenge isn’t just about physical endurance, it’s about a father’s love, a community’s support, and a powerful message of strength in the face of adversity.
