Maltese Woman ‘Overwhelmed’ After Public Donates €8,500 To Buy A New Wheelchair For Her Birthday
A Maltese woman was not expecting such an incredible response after she made a public appeal to help her raise funds to get a new wheelchair.
Yanica Galea posted about raising €15,000 to get a new wheelchair in time for her birthday on the 22nd of March. The one she’s been using for the last 15 years is beginning to fail her.
However, she was taken aback by just how many people have lent her a helping hand and spread the word.
Everyone from Winter Moods’ Ivan Grech to friends and family have since shared her post and raised support for Yanica’s fundraiser.
Her post has since been shared around 700 times,
Speaking to Lovin Malta, Yanica, who is also a musician and studied graphic design at the University of Malta, couldn’t believe the support she’s been shown.
“I’m really overwhelmed regarding my wheelchair post! It means so much to me,” she beamed. “Thanks to everyone who donated and shared my post. I wish I could reply to each one of you, it wouldn’t be possible without your help.”
