Maltese Woman Receives Social Security Letter For Son Who Died At Birth 16 Years Ago
A Maltese woman was left in shock when she received a letter from the Social Security Department addressed to her son who died shortly after he was born 16 years ago.
The letter informed the late son, who would have reached working age, that he had been registered onto the Social Security system and informed him of his legal rights and obligations.
However, the mother questioned how such a mistake could possibly have occurred.
She told Lovin Malta that her son was only alive for an hour and that he has a birth and death certificate. Moreover, she never received a cent in children’s allowance, a benefit which is managed by the Social Security Department.
“It’s the same department, so they should know,” she remarked.
