Mariska Vella has opened up about her fight with breast cancer, sharing an inspirational message of resilience, hope and awareness to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

In a heartfelt post, Mariska revealed that she was diagnosed in 2020. What followed was one of the hardest battles of her life, months of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and 18 months of intravenous treatment. She lost her hair, her life changed completely, and every day became more difficult.

But through it all, Mariska said she drew strength from her late son, Jake Vella, who himself lived with a very rare condition, as well as from her husband Josie, her family, and herself.

“It was one of the hardest battles of my life, but today I can say I am a survivor,” she wrote.

Mariska also had a message for anyone facing breast cancer right now: “Don’t lose hope. You are stronger than you think.”

Finally, she urged everyone to take care of themselves and check regularly. “I never imagined I would face breast cancer but early detection can save lives,” she said.

Her story, shared during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is a moving reminder of the importance of awareness, support, and never giving up.
