Two weeks after a terrible tragedy took the life of her mother, Miriam Pace’s young daughter has taken to Facebook to thank the nation for the support and help her family received.

Looking back on the last two weeks, it’s insane to fathom how much has happened on a global scale. Back home, however, before everyone descended into a stockpiling frenzy and frequent news from Mater Dei dominated everyone’s newsfeeds, one name rang louder than everything else; Miriam Pace.

The 54-year-old mother of two tragically lost her life when her house collapsed as a result of ongoing works on an adjacent construction zone. Angry statuses were shared, silent vigils were organised, but above all, a number of businesses and citizens alike rallied behind the Paces to offer what little they could to the grieving family.

“There were times when we had feelings of anger, disappointment and sorrow because our lives had just changed in an instant.,” Ivana Portelli started. “But it was in this difficult time that we found plenty of support which one cannot even begin to describe.”

“Family members, friends, various other entities and people who we did not know and only met through this experience: each and every one of you gave us the courage we needed, the strength to move forward and the positivity to look ahead.”

“No words will ever be enough o thank you all,” Ivana finished. “We are forever grateful. Once again, thank you for the bottom of our hearts.”
