Maltese couple Joe and Carmen Pisani have received gushing praise from the public for their selfless decision to donate their daughter’s organs to ten people after she unexpectedly died of a brain haemorrhage.

Carmen Pisani wrote on Facebook that the decision to donate Marie Therese Pisani’s healthy organs came after a CT scan declared her clinically braindead and her condition didn’t improve.

“Now that we have donated her remaining healthy organs, ten people will be benefitting and she will continue to live through these people,” she wrote. “Marie Therese was kind, gentle, beautiful inside and out and I couldn’t have asked God for a better daughter. May she rest in peace.”

Joe and Carmen were widely commended for taking such a noble decision in the midst of anguish.

Marie Therese’s cousin, renowned businessman Alexander Fenech, was amongst those who praised his aunt and uncle for the gesture.

“I am not a fan of advertising grief. The death of my cousin Marie Therese Pisani at the prime of her life is truly saddening,” he said.

“However thanks to the incredible strength and courage of my Aunty Carmen Pisani and Uncle Joe, who made the decision to donate Marie’s organs, there will be ten people who will be getting a second chance at life. As they say, real-life heroes don’t need to wear capes.”

Lovin Malta extends its condolences to the Pisani family and their loved ones during this difficult time
