A search is underway for two young men who went missing near Rabat on Saturday. Two bags carrying clothes, shoes and two mobile phones were found by fisherman around Blata tal-Melħ at 5am on Saturday.

Today, the bicycles which the men were last seen riding were also found some distance away from the backpacks. A plea being shared on Facebook names the missing boys as Mark Petric and Nick Johnson. One is aged 19 and the other is 21.

“Mark (Petric) was wearing a black t-shirt with Vegan and writing underneath, dark blue shorts yellow sneakers and white helmet. Nick wasn’t wearing a helmet and wore a grey hoodie black shorts and black sneakers,” the post being shared on Facebook says.

Malta this weekend experienced strong winds and rough seas, raising fears that the boys may have found themselves in difficulty while swimming.
