Today’s freak rainstorm may have ruined your car’s latest wash, but one Maltese newlywed couple literally had their honeymoon rained upon this afternoon.
Enjoying each other’s company at the idyllic Mġarr ix-Xini, soaking in the sun and basking in Malta’s natural beauty, the couple were about to enter a world of hurt when a jellyfish stung James, the husband, setting off a chain of events that left the couple ringless.
“A few newlywed blissful moments at Mġarr ix-Xini, before James got stung by a jellyfish and lost his new wedding ring in the sea,” Simone Alamango said in a Facebook post today following the ordeal.
The couple tried to search for the ring in the jellyfish-infested waters, and some other couples felt their plight and tried to help up – but alas, it was for nought, as the rain then began pouring down and putting a stop to any chance of a ring rescue.
“A sweet couple lent us goggles and we started our search only to be stopped by rain. Our life, cartoon. Ring not found!” she said.
Friends and loved ones were quick to come to the couple’s support
One woman said: “No worries. My husband lost his first wedding ring too after a few months and had to get another one.”
However, the couple were taking it in stride and seemed to be able to joke about it – and the husband himself already made plans to make sure this never happens again by getting a ring tattooed onto his finger!
