An inspirational group of Maltese altar boys and girls spent their Halloween collecting food for the needy and have thanked the people of Santa Venera for their generosity.

“That’s how we spend All Hallow’s Eve… collecting food for charity, and we collected quite a bit as well… well-done altar boys and girls and thank you Vendrizi!” the Facebook page Abbatini Karmelitani Parrocca Santa Venera said in praise of the children.

In a photo uploaded with the post, the altar children can be seen proudly standing by their massive haul, featuring all types of foods and goods collected for families in need.

The children’s smiles and thumbs-ups show just how happy they were to contribute and give back to their community.

Their good deed was roundly applauded and praised by Maltese people.

“Prosit to the altar boys and girls for spending their free time doing something to help those in need and well done to the chaplain for the initiative,” said one person.

Incredibly, they weren’t the only group of Maltese youngsters that spent Halloween helping others – a group of children in Bormla did as well. Might this be the beginning of a new altruistic Maltese Halloween tradition? Let’s hope so!
