Three-Year-Old Gaza Survivor Selah Starts First Day Of Childcare In Malta

Selah, a three-year-old Palestinian girl who is receiving medical treatment in Malta after surviving Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, started her first day of childcare today.

The young girl is believed to have attended a childcare centre in Mosta, and photos that the Palestinian embassy shared with Lovin Malta show her enjoying colouring activities.

Selah suffered burns and leg injuries, as well as psychological trauma, following an airstrike that killed her mother and brother. Luckily, she managed to escape to Egypt with her father Ashram after paying smugglers to get them out of Gaza.

With the help of the Palestinian embassy, they obtained a medical visa to fly her to Malta, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

While international law forbids the forced return of people to a war zone, it remains unclear whether Selah and her father will be allowed to stay in Malta as refugees or whether they will return to Egypt or relocate to another country.

The Palestinian embassy has embarked on a donation-raising campaign to bring more children from Gaza over to Malta for medical treatment.

While the government intends to pay for their visa and medical care costs, the embassy has asked for donations to cover their flights, accommodation and daily expenses.

The embassy is accepting donations via BOV Mobile Pay through +356 99922000 or Revolut via +356 99619998. For more information, people are invited to call +356 27801200 or +356 99202200.
