‘Until We Meet Again, Capitano:’ Tributes Pour In For Jonathan Chetcuti, Valletta Volleyball Champion And Marketing Guru
A series of heartfelt tributes have poured in upon the news of Maltese innovator and athlete Jonathan Chetcuti’s death.
Chetcuti, the technology and design expert behind Concept Stadium and a former Malta national volleyball player, is being remembered for his unique approach to life, business and happiness.
“You are a rock The Concept Stadium is built on, and your team will miss you. You always gave me the best advice, always staying calm when faced with difficult situations,” Jonathan Dalli posted today.
“The last months were very tough on you – I will never forget it when on the 23rd of September you showed up worried at the office. Later that week you were diagnosed with what was going the biggest and longest match of your lifetime.”
“Today I’m changing your designation mate… from Founder to Guardian Angel. Rest well brother – I love you man.”
Former minister George Pullicino posted a touching send-off where he sent his condolences to Jonathan’s wife and family.
And writer and close friend Alison Bezzina broke down just what kind of person Jonathan truly was.
“You see, my friend was one of those people who never let stress get to him, and when it did he never offloaded it on others. No matter how hard it got, no matter how impossible the situation looked, Johnny always had a positive thing to say or a funny remark that would crack everyone up,” she said.
“If all failed, he just had to look at me and smile, and suddenly everything was better. I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to spend five years of my life in his presence on a daily basis.”
Others remembered Jonathan for his contributions to sport as well as his support for innovation in technology in Malta.
After studying art, computer science and AI, he spearheaded GO’s online presence for 8 years, including major milestones such as the launch of mobile services and the rebranding of the GO group.
Jonathan then moved to Melita as the product manager for e-marketing, responsible for day-to-day operations, together with the online launch of mobile services and online rebranding amongst others.
