‘Until We Meet Again Salv!’: Birkirkara Remembers Fireworks And Fishing Enthusiast Saviour Grima

Parts of the Birkirkara community have sent their final tributes and condolences to Saviour Grima, the 71-year-old man who lost his life yesterday morning.
Grima, who was known as il-Palaw, was well-known within the community for his passion for fireworks and fishing. One local firework committee, the Kumitat Nar Santa Liena 18 ta’ Awwissu, expressed their sorrow at his passing.
“The Committee wishes to express its sorrow while sending condolences to the loved ones of Salvu Grima (il-Palaw) who met his creator early this morning. Salvu was a person who, for many years, did his part in pyrotechnics in our village and for some time ran the Victory Fireworks factory (of Sur Mifsud). Rest in peace Salv!” the committee said.
Former colleagues of his opened up about the hard-working family man
“Heartfelt condolences to the family of Salvu Grima. I’ve known him since he was young as he spent many years working with us as a carpenter. Rest in peace friend and pray for us!” said Freddie Scicluna, the former director of St Joseph Woodworks.
Grima lost his life yesterday morning in Ċirkewwa where he was fishing with a friend, when, for some reason, he fell into the sea. He was recovered from the sea but pronounced dead on the scene.
He leaves behind three children and five nephews
