Watch: ‘Daddy, Why Are They Aborting Babies Like Me?’ – Maltese Father Condemns Abortion Of Fetuses With Down Syndrome

A Maltese father to a son with Down Syndrome has condemned aborting fetuses that are diagnosed with the condition while still in their mother’s wounds.

Kris Grima, together with his husband, had adopted their son, Ben when he was just four months old after his birth parents decided they couldn’t care for a child with a disability.

”We don’t want abortion. What am I going to tell my kid when he’s older, if he comes to tell me ‘Daddy, why are they aborting babies like me?’ – how can I respond? I don’t have an answer,” Kris Grima said in a video for Life Network Foundation Malta.

Ben was born in Malta but was given up for adoption after his parents saw that they cannot take care of a baby with Down Syndrome.

”We don’t see the disability in Ben. When we look at European statistics, the top two most disabilities which get aborted are Spina Bifida and Down Syndrome. In places like Iceland and Finland, it’s nearly zero, Down Syndrome,” Grima explains.

Grima expressed that Malta is taking a step in the wrong direction by slowly allowing abortion policies, and claims that this will counter-act the efforts taken for the inclusivity of disabled people in the country.

Do you agree with Grima’s reasoning?
