WATCH: Egrant Dance-Off: Maria Efimova Issues Bizarre Challenge To Prime Minister

Former Pilatus Bank employee Maria Efimova has challenged Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to a dance battle.

“Whoever loses owns Egrant,” Efimova said, referring to the Panama company she had famously claimed belongs to the Prime Minister’s wife Michelle Muscat.

To back up her challenge, Efimova posted a video of herself dancing with two other women onto her Twitter account.

Her challenge comes in light of a leaked video of Joseph and Michelle Muscat popping bottles and dancing at the Girgenti Palace.

In 2017, now-assassinated journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia shook the country with a story that Michelle Muscat owns Egrant, an offshore company whose existence was revealed in the Panama Papers. It was later revealed that her main source was Maria Efimova, who used to work as an assistant to Pilatus Bank chairman Ali Sadr Hasheminejad and who claimed to have seen a document in the bank naming Michelle Muscat as the ultimate beneficial owner of Egrant.

However, a magisterial inquiry last year ruled that there was no proof to back up this claim. Meanwhile, Efimova has moved to Greece and has successfully resisted efforts to be extradited to Malta to face charges of defrauding Pilatus Bank and of making false statements against the police officers who had interrogated her.
