Watch: Fearne Festivities – Cabinet Surprises Deputy Prime Minister On His 61st Birthday
Malta’s Cabinet surprised deputy Prime Minister and EU Funds Minister Chris Fearne with a cake to celebrate his 61st birthday this morning.
As ministers convened at Castille to discuss national issues, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced that the cake would be their “first item on the agenda”.
In a video shared by Abela, Cabinet members can be seen cheering Fearne, who was clearly delighted by the surprise.
Fearne has served as an MP since 2013 and is perhaps best known for his eight-year tenure as Health Minister where he managed Malta’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He has been Deputy Prime Minister since 2017, but is expected to step down towards the end of the year after he was nominated as Malta’s next European Commissioner.
